TOMORROW: NBOA Advocacy & Policy Breakfast Meeting – School Board Election Candidates and Hear Update re: Renter Ordinances

Dapper East Restaurant (2901 W. Addison); Tuesday, July 28, 8:30AM

Dear NBOA Colleagues and Friends,

To mark our 20th Neighborhood Building Owners Alliance Advocacy Breakfast, we are departing from our usual practice of hosting an alderman and instead focusing our attention on the first election for a fully elected Chicago School Board and School Board President.

We will begin the meeting with a short legislative update from NBOA lobbyists, including the Mayor’s tenant ordinance (“PRO”) and the alternative “Fair and Accountable Illinois Rental Ordinance (“FAIR“) that the City Council’s Common Sense Caucus recently introduced.

NBOA ADVOCACY/POLICY

BREAKFAST MEETING

Tomorrow

Tuesday, July 28

8:30AM

Dappers East Restaurant

2901 W. Addison (note new location)

Event Cost: $35

($50 day of and at door)

We will then focus on the November school board elections and why these elecdtions are of great importance to us.

We will first meet School board president candidate Jessica Biggs.

We will also hear from the following school board candidates:

Hector Morales (District 2A)

Peter Gonzales (District 3A)

Carlos Rivas (District 3B)

Isaiah White (District 6A)

Che “Rhymefest” Smith (District 10A)

Although the Chicago School Board does not set housing policy, it is responsible for more than half of the property taxes we pay.

Moreover, the Board of Education races are shaping up as proxy contests between candidates backed by Mayor Johnson and the Chicago Teachers Union and candidates supported by those seeking a more balanced approach to governing our city and its schools.

The candidates we will hear from are advocating for fiscal responsibility in Chicago Public Schools and for putting children and families first.

Please join us for a lively and informative discussion.

School board president candidate Jessica Biggs
We look forward to seeing you at this informative and valuable meeting.
